UP Police Bust Drug Trafficking Ring, Seize 68 KG of Marijuana in Operation Savera

Muzaffarnagar: Police in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, have seized a significant amount of marijuana and arrested a drug trafficker as part of “Operation Savera.” The bust led to the recovery of 68 kilograms of marijuana and a Hyundai Santro car used for trafficking.

The operation was conducted by the Meerapur police station under the supervision of senior officials, including Senior Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar Verma and Circle Officer Jatinder Singh Nagar. On Tuesday, during a routine check, police noticed a car attempting to flee. The police team managed to apprehend the driver, identified as Ramesh, while his accomplice, Sanjay, escaped.

During the search, the police discovered 68 kg of marijuana in the car. The vehicle has been seized, and efforts are underway to arrest the second suspect. The arrested accused, Ramesh (50), a resident of Panipat, Haryana, confessed that he and his accomplice Sanjay were smuggling marijuana from Odisha. He stated that they would buy the drugs at a low price and then sell them at a higher price in retail quantities in Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Panipat, and other areas for illegal profit.

The police are currently investigating the criminal history of the arrested trafficker and are making efforts to apprehend his partner.
