Lucknow: The Government of UP under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister is committed to helping the state achieve One Trillion Dollar GSDP for the state by 2027. The Government believes that this cannot be achieved without strengthening the access and quality of education in the state.
Towards this objective, the State Government is seeking to attract new universities, colleges and schools in the state and organized a round table conference of promotors and senior leaders from educational institutions from across the country today.
Organized at Yojana Bhavan with support from FICCI and ARISE, the day long round table conference became a platform for a dialogue between education leaders from school education and higher education segments from across the country with the Government of UP. The first half of the conference focused on Higher Education while the second half was on School Education.
The Government expressed its commitment to enhancing the access and quality of education with greater participation of the private and philanthropic organisations in the education sector. The private and philanthropic organisations on their part expressed their support to the efforts of the Government.
The round table conference, the first of its kind in the country, brought together key stakeholders such as the Government of UP, universities, schools and educationists interested in starting operations in UP, and industry associations.
The round table provided to the UP Government valuable insights on transforming the UP state into a premier destination for education and research from education leaders. The discussion areas included setting up of new institutions, expanding the capacity of existing institutions, better leverage of facilities to benefit more students, partnership models between government and private and philanthropic organisations, improving quality and standards, inclusion of skills into education, required policy changes for enhancing the ease and cost of setting up and operating educational institutions, industry academia partnerships among others.
This round table was attended by more than 35 education leaders from different states and officials of the state. Sh. Sandeep Singh, Minister of Basic Education, Independent charge and Rajani Tiwari, Minister of Higher Education (MOS) led the discussions from the Government side. Also present were senior advisor to the Chief Minister, Awanish Awasthi, Prof. D P Singh and Dr KV Raju, and Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary Planning Deepak Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary, Basic and Secondary Education, M P Agarwal, Principal Secretary, Higher Education and other department senior officials.
Speaking at the round table, leading educationist T V Mohandas Pai emphasized on the importance of initiatives required from the Government and private organisations for achieving the goals of a Viksit Bharat through education with quality, speed and scale.
Rajani Tiwari talked about making education available to everyone with ease and enhancing their employability. Sh. Sandeep Singh expressed the hope that this conference will prove to be an important milestone in achieving the goals of the government to help the state provide quality education to all its students.
