Lucknow: In a significant step towards transforming Uttar Pradesh into a global hub for high-tech manufacturing and drone technology, an Indian delegation led by Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya held a series of high-level meetings in Germany with leading international technology firms. The delegation included IT Minister Sunil Kumar and senior officials.
The initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat, as well as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s strategy to attract large-scale global investment into the state.
During the visit, the delegation held detailed discussions with senior representatives of Fujikura Ltd. regarding advanced sensor technologies, autonomous platforms and smart infrastructure solutions. Talks focused on the possibility of establishing prototyping and advanced manufacturing units in Uttar Pradesh, particularly for smart sensors and electronic systems catering to the automotive and electric vehicle sectors.
The discussions also explored collaboration in smart city projects, digital infrastructure development, and research-driven innovation models. Fujikura expressed strong interest in setting up prototyping and manufacturing operations in the state, a move that could significantly enhance Uttar Pradesh’s position as a centre for high-technology production and innovation.
In another key meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister engaged with Quantum-Systems GmbH, a leading German drone manufacturer. The talks revolved around technology transfer, potential investment models, and the establishment of advanced drone manufacturing and research facilities in Uttar Pradesh.
The discussions included collaboration in developing cutting-edge UAV systems for both defence and civilian applications. Opportunities under the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor were highlighted, particularly in the areas of industrial partnerships, research collaboration and skill development. The company presented its integrated multi-domain drone ecosystem and outlined applications across defence surveillance, mapping, disaster management and infrastructure monitoring, indicating broad scope for future cooperation.
The delegation also met representatives of Telefónica O2 and HENSOLDT. These meetings focused on telecommunications, digital infrastructure, defence collaboration, technology transfer and investment prospects in Uttar Pradesh.

Detailed discussions were held on advanced communication networks, secure connectivity solutions, smart infrastructure systems, modern sensor and avionics technologies, electronic warfare platforms, and the potential establishment of testing and production hubs within the state. Company representatives appreciated Uttar Pradesh’s Defence Corridor initiative, its robust industrial infrastructure and investor-friendly policies, expressing a positive outlook towards long-term partnerships.
Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said that Uttar Pradesh today offers an ideal investment environment, backed by strong law and order, a world-class expressway network, the Defence Corridor project, electronics manufacturing clusters and transparent industrial policies. He assured global investors that the state government is fully committed to providing single-window clearances, fast-track approvals and comprehensive support for new ventures.
He emphasised that the high-level engagements in Germany represent a decisive and forward-looking step towards positioning Uttar Pradesh as a leader in global technology, defence manufacturing, telecommunications and smart infrastructure development.
Officials noted that collaborations emerging from these meetings could accelerate the establishment of advanced manufacturing ecosystems in the state, attract foreign direct investment, promote skill development, and create large-scale employment opportunities. The proposed partnerships are also expected to strengthen the state’s role in India’s push for self-reliance in defence production and high-end technology manufacturing.
With focused efforts to integrate global expertise with local industrial capacity, Uttar Pradesh is steadily advancing towards becoming a major high-tech manufacturing and drone hub on the international map.
