Lucknow : The Monsoon Session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature — encompassing both the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council — will commence on August 11, 2025, with proceedings set to begin at 11:00 AM each day. As per official communication issued on Saturday, the session is expected to last four days.
Notifications for the session were released by Pradeep Kumar Dubey, Principal Secretary of the Assembly, and Dr. Rajesh Singh, Principal Secretary of the Legislative Council. The government is likely to table replacement bills for ordinances issued after the previous Budget Session ended.
The Monsoon Session, formally recognized as the second session of the year 2025, received cabinet approval from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath before the Legislative Secretariat accelerated preparations.
This brief but crucial session will see the presentation of seven reports from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG). In addition, the government is expected to introduce and pass a series of ordinances and pending bills, some of which were promulgated after the Budget Session.

As per the rules of procedure, there can be no more than six months between the last sitting of one session and the first sitting of the next. Since the Budget Session began on February 18 and was adjourned on March 5, with official prorogation on March 12, the next session had to be held before September 5.
Hence, the decision to convene the Monsoon Session from August 11 ensures compliance with legislative norms, while also allowing the government to table and pass crucial legislative business in a limited time frame.
