Lucknow: In a major push to promote sustainable tourism, the Uttar Pradesh Eco-Tourism Development Board has launched new initiatives to develop eco-tourism infrastructure in lesser-known destinations across the state. The move aligns with the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to transform Uttar Pradesh into a prominent eco-tourism hub.
As part of the initiative, tourism facilities are being upgraded at the Rapri Eco Tourism Centre in Firozabad and Kamakhya Van Park in Ghazipur. The projects aim to enhance eco-tourism activities while generating employment and additional income opportunities for local communities.
At Rapri Eco Park in Firozabad, Phase-2 development works worth ₹5 crore are currently underway. The project includes the construction of a new entrance gate, interpretation centre, and ticket counter. To provide visitors with an adventurous and memorable experience, facilities such as wall climbing zones, wooden decks, selfie points, and nature trails are being developed. Essential visitor amenities including parking areas, drinking water facilities, toilet blocks, and signage will also be installed. For tourists wishing to stay longer, the park will offer gazebos, circular huts, and Swiss tents for relaxation and overnight stays.
Meanwhile, in Kamakhya Van Park in Ghazipur, development works worth ₹1 crore are being carried out to improve eco-tourism infrastructure. A key attraction will be a butterfly garden, designed to showcase various species of butterflies and attract nature enthusiasts. The project will also include a landscape park, water fountain, gazebos, and a dedicated children’s park.

Additionally, an attractive entrance plaza and interpretation centre will be constructed to introduce visitors to the ecological features of the forest park. Facilities such as drinking water stations, pole lighting, benches, and dustbins will also be installed to enhance visitor comfort.
Officials said these projects will give new recognition to the forest parks of Firozabad and Ghazipur while adding a new chapter to the state’s eco-tourism development journey. By promoting nature-based tourism, the government aims to strengthen sustainable tourism while supporting rural livelihoods and environmental awareness across the state.
