Hamirpur : In a sensitive development, a case of financial aid being sent from Hamirpur district in Uttar Pradesh to individuals affected by the ongoing war in Palestine has come to light. Acting on intelligence inputs, a special team from Lucknow Police questioned seven individuals in this connection on Wednesday.
The police team arrived in the Maudaha region of Hamirpur and took the seven people into custody for preliminary questioning. They were brought to Maudaha Kotwali (police station), where they were interrogated regarding their alleged links to the monetary transfer.
According to initial information, a local organization based in Maudaha reportedly sent financial assistance to war-affected people in Palestine through an NGO operating out of Saharanpur. The involvement of this Saharanpur-based NGO came under scrutiny after one of its volunteers acknowledged and thanked the Maudaha group in a WhatsApp status update—prompting police and intelligence authorities to initiate an inquiry.
During the investigation, the Lucknow team collected mobile numbers, Aadhaar details, and other documents from those detained. However, they were released later the same evening after questioning, around 8 PM.
SP Dr. Diksha Sharma confirmed the development and stated that the special intelligence unit from Lucknow questioned seven individuals in connection with the matter. “The team has returned to Lucknow after gathering the required information. The local police are fully cooperating with the investigation,” she added.
As of now, no official charges have been filed, and the matter remains under investigation. Authorities have not disclosed further details, citing the sensitivity of the case.
The episode has sparked curiosity and concern, as it raises questions about the route and intent of international financial transfers emerging from local regions in India.
