UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya Leads International Yoga Day Celebrations in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad: Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya participated as the chief guest at the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations held at I.M.S. College, Dasna, Ghaziabad. The event commenced with the live broadcast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inspirational address, followed by a collective yoga session in which Maurya and hundreds of participants took part.

Extending greetings on the occasion, Maurya hailed yoga as an invaluable gift from India’s ancient wisdom to humanity. He credited Prime Minister Modi for bringing global recognition to yoga and said, “Yoga promotes physical and mental well-being. It is a natural pathway to harmony, health, and holistic wellness. It has become a powerful global agent of change.”

He urged everyone to make yoga an integral part of their daily routine and take a pledge to build a “Healthy India, Empowered India”. “Yoga helps individuals live in the present, free from the burdens of the past. It is not just a philosophy but a science that helps focus the mind and rejuvenate the body,” he added.

Maurya also attended a parallel Yoga Day program held at I.T.S., Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad, where he felicitated yoga instructors and student participants, and emphasized the growing relevance of yoga as a means of livelihood and mental stability in today’s fast-paced, distraction-filled world.

In a symbolic gesture, the Deputy CM planted a tree in honor of mothers, promoting the message “One Tree in the Name of Every Mother.” He stressed the need for collective efforts in environmental conservation and water management, calling on citizens to actively participate in these causes as part of their social responsibility.

“Yoga is not just a cultural heritage but also a spiritual and physical discipline. Under PM Modi’s visionary leadership, yoga has carried the Indian identity to the global stage,” said Maurya.

Highlighting the significance of yoga in fostering discipline, peace, and vitality, Maurya called upon the youth to embrace it as a way of life that builds a healthier, stronger, and more positive India.

The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including UP Cabinet Minister Sunil Kumar Sharma, Ghaziabad Mayor Sunita Dayal, MP Atul Garg, MLAs Nand Kishore Gurjar, Sanjeev Sharma, and Basant Tyagi, former Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Anil Agarwal, Mayank Goyal, yoga gurus, students, social workers, and hundreds of enthusiastic citizens.

The grand celebration marked not only a salute to India’s ancient tradition but also showcased the unity and cultural pride brought forth through yoga, underlining its importance in shaping a health-conscious and spiritually awakened society.
