UP Day Initiative: Yogi Government Pushes Community Participation to Achieve NIPUN Bharat Targets on Time

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: On the occasion of Uttar Pradesh Day, the Yogi Adityanath-led state government has announced a major initiative to transform the NIPUN Bharat Mission into a people’s movement by ensuring active participation of parents and the local community. As part of this effort, ‘Shiksha Chaupal’ programmes will be organised in every Nyay Panchayat across the state on January 24, 2026.

The initiative aims to connect parents, School Management Committees (SMCs), teachers and the wider community with the objectives of the NIPUN Bharat Mission, which focuses on strengthening children’s foundational literacy and numeracy skills at the primary level. The government has emphasised achieving these targets within a fixed timeline through collective responsibility and awareness.

Focus on Balvatika and Foundational Education

Director General of School Education, Monika Rani, has issued instructions to all Basic Education Officers to ensure effective organisation of the Shiksha Chaupal. The programme will focus on the efficient functioning of Balvatikas, increasing student enrolment, ensuring regular attendance, and highlighting the long-term importance of education in a child’s life.

During the Chaupals, information will be shared about teaching-learning resources provided to schools, including print-rich material, mathematics kits, functional libraries, sports equipment, and digital facilities such as smart classrooms, ICT labs, DIKSHA, Khan Academy and teacher-support applications.

Encouraging Excellence and Community Engagement

To boost motivation and participation, teachers who have shown exemplary performance, schools that have achieved notable improvements in enrolment and attendance, and meritorious students will be felicitated during the events. Parents and SMC members will also be acknowledged for their contribution to strengthening the education system.

Public representatives, administrative officials, eminent citizens and media representatives will be invited to attend the programmes, reinforcing transparency and community ownership.

₹10,000 Grant per Nyay Panchayat

For smooth conduct of the Shiksha Chaupal, the state government has approved ₹10,000 per Nyay Panchayat. The funds will be used for arrangements such as tents, chairs, sound systems, banners, refreshments, stationery, photography and videography. Strict financial guidelines have been issued, and expenditure details must be uploaded on the designated management portal within the stipulated time. District and divisional-level officials will continuously monitor the programme.

The initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to strengthening foundational education and empowering Panchayats, aligning with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision of community-driven, inclusive and quality education in Uttar Pradesh.
