UP CM Yogi Adityanath Leads Centenary Celebrations of Kakori Train Action at Bajnagar, Kakori

Lucknow – The Uttar Pradesh Department of Culture today organised a grand centenary celebration of the historic Kakori Train Action at Bajnagar, Kakori. The event was graced by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath as the Chief Guest, with Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh, Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, and several legislators and dignitaries in attendance.

Prominent public representatives present included MLAs Neeraj Bora, O.P. Srivastava, Rajeshwar Singh, Yogesh Shukla, Amresh Kumar, Legislative Council members Mahendra Kumar Singh, Lalji Prasad Nirmal, Umesh Dwivedi, and Avnish Kumar Singh. Senior officials such as Principal Secretary (Culture & Tourism) Mukesh Kumar Meshram, Divisional Commissioner Roshan Jacob, District Magistrate Vishakha G., Special Secretary (Culture) Sanjay Kumar Singh, and Director of Tribal Arts Institute Atul Dwivedi were also in attendance.

The programme was coordinated by Additional Director (Culture) Srishti Dhawan, with cultural presentations managed by Assistant Director Reenu Rangbharti and UP Sangeet Natak Akademi Director Dr. Shobhit Kumar Nahar.

The event began with the Chief Minister offering floral tributes at the Shaheed Mandir in honour of the martyrs. Minister Jaiveer Singh then felicitated the Chief Minister with a memento, before addressing the gathering and paying homage to the sacrifices of the freedom fighters.

The Department of Culture staged a special centenary performance combining theatre and music, directed by senior theatre director Suresh Sharma with choreography by renowned Kathak dancer Rani Khanam. The presentation featured nearly 100 artists performing drama, Kathak, Rai, Faruwahi, and Mallakhamb, earning high praise from the audience.

The State Archives Department, under Director Amit Kumar Agnihotri, organised a special archival exhibition showcasing rare documents from the era.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also honoured family members of India’s freedom fighters with shawls and mementoes. In his concluding address, the CM urged citizens to draw inspiration from the courage, sacrifice, and patriotism of Kakori’s heroes, and to carry forward their legacy in building a stronger nation.
