Lucknow: The Indian National Congress has stepped into full election mode in Uttar Pradesh as preparations intensify for the 2027 Assembly elections. A crucial meeting of the UP Congress Political Affairs Committee was held at the Pradesh Congress Headquarters in Lucknow to chalk out an extensive electoral roadmap and review the current political situation in the state.
The high-level meeting was attended by UP Congress in-charge and AICC General Secretary Avinash Pandey, State Congress President Ajay Rai, and Rajya Sabha Deputy Leader Pramod Tiwari. Several senior leaders and members of the party’s legislative team were also present, underlining the importance of the deliberations.

Prominent leaders participating in the meeting included Leader of Congress Legislature Party Aradhana Mishra ‘Mona’, senior Congress leader P.L. Punia, co-incharges and national secretaries Dheeraj Gurjar, Tauqeer Alam, and Pradeep Narwal, along with sitting MPs, former MLAs, and senior office-bearers of the party.

According to party sources, apart from election strategy, discussions also focused on key public issues to corner the state and central governments. The Congress is reportedly planning mass agitations on alleged irregularities in MGNREGA and issues related to SIR (Special Investment Region), both on the streets and in legislative forums. The party aims to reconnect with rural voters, farmers, and the marginalised through these issues.
The meeting also aimed at infusing fresh enthusiasm among party workers at the district and block levels. Encouraged by an improved performance in the recent Lok Sabha elections, the Congress leadership is working towards strengthening its grassroots organisation and positioning the party as a major political force, or a potential kingmaker, in Uttar Pradesh ahead of 2027.
