UP Agriculture Minister Directs Timely Availability and Distribution of Rabi Seeds

LUCKNOW  – Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi and Minister of State for Agriculture Baldev Singh Olakh held a physical and financial review meeting of the schemes and programs operated by the Agriculture Department at the Krishi Nideshalaya (Agriculture Directorate).

During the meeting, the Agriculture Minister issued several key directives to all district and divisional officers to ensure a successful Rabi season. He mandated that all seeds for Rabi crops, including wheat, barley, gram, peas, lentils, mustard, and linseed, must be made available for distribution to farmers at all government seed stores by October 25, 2025.

Furthermore, he instructed that the distribution of all subsidized Rabi crop seeds must be completed through government agricultural seed stores by November 25, 2025, well in advance of the sowing period.

The Minister also addressed the issue of crop insurance for farmers in flood-affected and damaged areas. He directed a joint team of responsible officials and employees from the Revenue, Agriculture, and Insurance departments to take immediate action to ensure that affected farmers receive their insurance benefits promptly. He also called upon District Deputy Directors and District Agriculture Officers to make special efforts to increase crop productivity, particularly for pulses and oilseeds.

Shahi emphasized that farmers are a priority for the government and stressed that the distribution of high-quality seeds must be ensured with complete transparency and on time. “Any kind of negligence in this matter will be taken seriously, and action will be initiated,” he warned.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary of Agriculture Ravindra, Secretary of Agriculture Indra Vikram Singh, Special Secretaries of Agriculture T.K. Shibu and O.P. Verma, Director of Agriculture Pankaj Tripathi, Director of Statistics Sumita Singh, and other senior officials.
