Lucknow: On the occasion of the 100th birth anniversary of India’s beloved former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a statue of the iconic leader was unveiled at Kudiyan Ghat in Lucknow. The ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, marking a significant tribute to the leader’s enduring legacy.
The statue was established under the tireless efforts of Lucknow Mayor, Sushma Kharkwal, whose vision brought this project to life. Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, the Mayor expressed the nation’s deep gratitude for the contributions of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, emphasizing how his leadership and statesmanship continue to inspire millions.
Mayor Kharkwal also addressed the gathering, stating that December 25 is celebrated not only as the birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee but also as “Good Governance Day,” a day that honors the principles of governance and leadership that he upheld throughout his political career. She emphasized that the country remains indebted to him for his selfless service and for the profound impact he had on Indian politics.
“Today, the entire nation remembers our Bharat Ratna, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, as an ideal figure whose simplicity, humility, and compassion have left an indelible mark on the hearts of millions of Indians,” the Mayor said. She added that the nation would always be grateful for his contributions to the country’s development and his vision of a prosperous India.
