Unity Among Regional Parties Key to Defeating BJP: Akhilesh Yadav

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) Chief Akhilesh Yadav held a press conference in Lucknow, addressing key issues and criticizing the Uttar Pradesh government. On the occasion of Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary, Yadav invoked the spiritual leader’s teachings, emphasized social justice, and expressed concerns over governance failures.

Remarks on Swami Vivekananda’s Teachings

Addressing the gathering, Akhilesh Yadav highlighted Swami Vivekananda’s message: “Bread is more important than religion for the poor.” He criticized attempts to impose religious discourse on impoverished individuals, stating that economic upliftment should take precedence over ideological narratives.

Warning on Milkipur By-Elections

The SP chief took a strong stance on the upcoming Milkipur by-elections. Accusing the BJP-led government of potential electoral malpractice, he warned, “If gunpoint tactics are used during the Milkipur elections, I will urge my workers to take immediate action and respond as needed.” His comments underscore growing tensions as political parties gear up for the polls.

Confidence in INDIA Alliance

Reaffirming his faith in the opposition INDIA alliance, Yadav declared it a robust coalition. He stressed the importance of supporting regional parties in states where they are formidable contenders against the BJP, emphasizing unity to challenge the ruling party.

Criticism Over Kannauj Train Accident

Yadav also criticized the state government over a recent accident at Kannauj railway station. He alleged rampant corruption in the BJP-led administration, accusing contractors of taking commissions and compromising on project quality and safety. On social media platform X, he wrote, “This railway accident is a direct result of the BJP’s mega corruption and greed. Contractors take bribes and award projects without proper execution, leading to negligence in quality and safety.”

Demand for Compensation

Holding the government accountable for the accident, the SP chief called for immediate compensation for the affected families. He demanded that the BJP government take responsibility for such negligence, ensuring justice and relief for the victims.
