Lucknow: Amid rising global tensions, senior Congress leader Arvind Kumar Chaturvedi has strongly criticized what he termed as “unilateral pressure politics,” asserting that such strategies are no longer sustainable in the evolving geopolitical landscape.
Chaturvedi, who serves as the Amethi district vice-president of the Indian National Congress, said the world order is rapidly changing and no single nation can dominate global affairs for long.
Strong Remarks on Global Power Dynamics
Reacting to recent international developments involving Iran, United States, and Israel, he claimed that emerging resistance from countries like Iran sends a clear signal to global powers that consider themselves dominant.
“The world has changed. When a country like Iran can challenge powerful nations, it shows that the era of unilateral dominance is fading,” he said.
Warning of Shifting Alliances
Chaturvedi further noted that if current trends continue, major powers such as Russia and China could mount a serious challenge to the global influence of the United States.
He emphasized that such developments indicate a transition toward a more multipolar world order, where power is distributed among several nations rather than concentrated in one.

Call for Independent Indian Foreign Policy
Highlighting India’s strategic position, Chaturvedi urged the country to adopt an independent and assertive foreign policy. Referring to India, he said the nation must act based on its own interests and not under external pressure.
“India must take decisions with self-respect and strong political will. Whether it is the United States or any other country, India does not need to bow before anyone,” he asserted.
Criticism of Centre’s Approach
In a direct message to the central government, Chaturvedi warned that national interest should remain paramount in all foreign policy decisions. He cautioned that any perceived alignment or pressure from global powers could be seen as compromising India’s sovereignty.
“The people of the country will not accept any foreign policy that undermines India’s independence and dignity,” he added.
The remarks come at a time when global geopolitical tensions are intensifying, prompting renewed debates within India’s political circles over the country’s strategic positioning on the world stage.
