Washington: India has sharply condemned Pakistani Army Chief General Asim Munir’s latest nuclear threat, delivered from US soil, calling it a “textbook case of nuclear saber-rattling.” Speaking at a private gathering in Florida, Munir reportedly warned that if Pakistan faced an existential crisis in a future conflict with India, it would “take half the world down with us.”
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed regret over the remarks being made “from the soil of a friendly third country,” calling them “irresponsible” and emblematic of Pakistan’s troubling civil-military dynamics, where the armed forces are “hand-in-glove with terrorist groups.” India reaffirmed its stance that it would take “all necessary steps” to protect national security and resist nuclear blackmail.
Israel also condemned the comments, with Ambassador Reuven Azar labeling them “not conducive” to peace. Official sources described the statement as “extremely reckless,” warning of the risk that Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal could fall into non-state hands.

Munir’s remarks mark the first public instance of a Pakistani leader issuing a nuclear threat from US territory. His visit, the second to Washington in six weeks, includes high-level meetings with American political and defense officials as well as diaspora outreach.
