However, this time, Abhishek Chaubey will not be directing the sequel. Instead, Akash Kaushik will take over as director and screenwriter. The script is already in progress, and filming is expected to begin next year.

The original Udta Punjab featured an ensemble cast, including Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, and Diljit Dosanjh, who delivered stellar performances.
