According to reports, Ekta Kapoor has commenced work on Udta Punjab 2, with Shahid Kapoor reprising his lead role. Currently, the film is in its early development stage. However, this time, Abhishek Chaubey will not be directing the sequel. Instead, Akash Kaushik will take over as director and screenwriter. The script is already in progress, and filming is expected to begin next year.
Udta Punjab – A Box Office Success
The original Udta Punjab featured an ensemble cast, including Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, and Diljit Dosanjh, who delivered stellar performances. Made on a budget of ₹47 crore, the film grossed ₹83.80 crore at the box office. It also played a significant role in establishing Diljit Dosanjh as a prominent actor in Hindi cinema.
