U.P. well placed to become hub of logistics and warehousing – CII

Lucknow: With largest number of International and Domestic Airport and Largest Rail Network in the Country, UP is all set for to become the hub of Logistics and Warehousing Sector said Minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi.’

CII in association with Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) organised the second edition of CII Logistics and Warehousing Summit 2024 which was graced by  Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ ,  Industry Minister, Government of Uttar Pradesh as Chief Guest.

Speaking at the session  Nand Gopal Gupta, Nandi , mentioned that warehousing and logistics sector encompasses every sector and forms the base of the industry. UP is the only state in India with largest number of international and domestic airports and the largest railway network in the country. With this infrastructure set-up in place, Uttar Pradesh not only has the potential to become the hub of logistics and warehousing sector but also has the potential to alter the industrial ecosystem of UP by making it a USD 1 Trillion Dollar Economy soon.

Shrihari Pratap Shahi, ACEO, UPEIDA , highlighted the significant strides made under the UP Warehousing and Logistics Policy 2022. He emphasized that the policy includes a variety of incentives designed to boost the sector, fostering an environment conducive to growth and innovation.”

Addressing the audience  Akash Goenka, Chairman, CII Northern Region Committee on Food and Dairy & Director Goldiee Group, mentioned that UP being India’s one of the largest and most populous state, has immense potential in the warehousing and logistics sector being a pivotal transit point connecting various regions of the country. The development of industrial corridors such as the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and the proposed Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) enhances the state’s logistics network.

Anoop Chauhan , Vice President, Contract Logistics and Cold Chain, Subcontinent, DP World, informed the audience of the extensive profile of the company and how they are enabling the industry with logistics and warehousing solutions with technology and innovation. He also added that DP World is committed to revolutionizing global trade and supply chain management through innovative solutions and strategic investments with a focus on sustainability and technological advancements to ensures efficient and reliable logistics services.

Yawar Ali Shah , Panel Convenor of CII Panel on MSME and CEO, AMA Herbals Laboratories Pvt Ltd, mentioned that It is widely acknowledged that the warehousing and logistics sector is the engine propelling the nation’s economic growth and stands as the largest employment provider after MSMEs. Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a pivotal industrial hub in North India. With the current government’s renewed focus on boosting the state’s industrial output, numerous initiatives have been launched, including the inaugural Global Investors Summit, ODOP melas, and groundbreaking ceremonies for various investment projects.

The session was attended by more than 100 delegates from the industry, administration, academia and research institutions.
