Lucknow: Governor of the State Anandiben Patel graced the 50th edition of ‘Vichar Manthan: An interactive programme with global and Indian visionaries’ of Kristu Jayanti College as the Chief Guest during her visit to Bengaluru. The Governor inaugurated the newly established Anandiben Patel Women’s Studies Centre at the college. The centre is dedicated to empowering women through focused studies and initiatives, fostering an environment of learning, growth and equality.
Addressing the event on the occasion, Anandiben Patel highlighted the crucial role of youth in national development, emphasising the importance of holistic education rooted in cultural values and aimed at shaping responsible citizens. She also emphasised the critical need for educational institutions adopting villages to empower women in rural India and bring about positive change across the country. Prof. S.C. Sharma, Member, Governing Body of Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous and former NAAC Director, presented a citation to Smt. Anandiben Patel, Governor of Uttar Pradesh, on behalf of the college in recognition of her significant contribution.
The event also witnessed the release of the book “Bharat’s Brilliant Stateswoman: Anandiben Patel, Leading with Grace,” co-authored by Prof. S.C. Sharma and Fr. Dr. Augustine George CMI, Principal, Christu Jayanti College. This book, a must-read for the discerning reader, highlights the distinguished career and strong leadership of Smt. Anandiben Patel. It describes her life story, achievements and her exemplary inspiring insights. The foreword to the book has been written by Dr. Lyola Thomas and Dr. Arsha Subbi of the English Department of the college.
During the ceremony, Fr. Dr. Augustine George CMI and Fr. Dr. Lijo P. Thomas CMI, Vice Principal, Christu Jayanti College honoured Smt. Anandiben Patel with a traditional shawl, gifts and mementoes. Later, in the Q&A session, the students got an opportunity to interact with the Governor on a number of inspiring topics.
