Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi conducted a comprehensive review meeting at the Agriculture Bhawan auditorium with department officials regarding the physical and financial progress of agricultural programs for the financial year 2024-25. During the review, the Minister directed all scheme officials to ensure 100% achievement of the targeted physical and financial progress. He also emphasized that the financial approvals granted must be utilized effectively and that surrendering approved funds would not be accepted.
Officials from districts where program progress was found to be below the state average were issued warnings and instructed to ensure the required progress within three days. Additionally, the Agriculture Minister approved financial sanctions worth Rs. 110.84 crore for the financial year 2024-25.
In a significant directive, the Agriculture Minister instructed the Agriculture Director to appoint nodal officers for each division, ensuring regular supervision of districts. This measure aims to provide real-time updates on program progress. He also stressed the importance of increasing agricultural production for the state’s economic growth, aligning with the Chief Minister’s vision of achieving a $1 trillion economy.
To disseminate information about government schemes beneficial to farmers, the Minister emphasized the need to conduct various awareness programs, including field days, workshops, exhibitions, fairs, and rallies. These initiatives will help farmers access and benefit from government support, ultimately boosting agricultural production in the state.
Principal Secretary of Agriculture, Ravindra, instructed officials to upload beneficiary lists related to the programs on the Agriculture Department’s “Darshan” portal. This will enable state-level authorities to monitor and inspect progress periodically. Additionally, scheme officers were advised to conduct regular field visits to assess program implementation at the district level.
The review meeting was attended by Agriculture Secretary Indra Vikram Singh, Special Secretary of Agriculture O.P. Verma, Agriculture Director Jitendra Singh Tomar, Director of Agricultural Statistics & Crop Insurance Sumita Singh, along with other scheme officers.
