Lucknow: Police from Madiyav Police Station, Lucknow have arrested two alleged vehicle thieves and recovered four stolen two-wheelers from their possession during a targeted operation.
According to police officials, Sub-Inspector Akhilesh Kumar received a tip-off on March 4 that two suspects involved in recent two-wheeler thefts were present near the railway line under Madiyav Bridge with a stolen scooter. Acting swiftly on the information, a police team reached the spot and apprehended both suspects.
The arrested accused have been identified as Dheeraj Kanojia alias Dhanni (24), a dairy worker currently residing in Sector C under Vikas Nagar Police Station, Lucknow, originally from Dharaura village under Mahigawan Police Station, Lucknow, and Lukman (22), a driver residing near the Sports College Depot Chauraha under Gudamba Police Station, Lucknow.
During interrogation, the accused admitted that they had stolen a scooter (UP32HM6954) from the Engineering College intersection area and were planning to sell it. The vehicle was found linked to a case already registered at Madiyav police station under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Based on further questioning and the accused’s disclosure, police recovered three additional stolen motorcycles, including a TVS Jupiter scooter, a Passion Plus motorcycle, and a Passion Pro motorcycle, some of which were without number plates.
Police said one of the accused, Dheeraj Kanojia, has a prior criminal record with earlier cases of theft registered against him at Madiyav and Saerpur Police Station, Lucknow.
A new case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and the accused are being produced before the court for further legal proceedings. The arrest operation was carried out by a team including Sub-Inspectors Pushpendra Chaudhary, Shubham Tiwari, Akhilesh Singh and Head Constable Gaurav Kumar Singh.
