Two Theft Accused Arrested by PGI Police with Public Assistance in Lucknow

Lucknow: The PGI Police Station in Lucknow successfully arrested two habitual theft accused with the assistance of local residents after they were caught attempting to commit चोरी. The accused were apprehended on the spot, preventing the crime from being carried out successfully.

According to police officials, the incident dates back to March 31, 2026, when a local resident, Joginder, brought the two accused to the police station along with a written complaint. He alleged that the duo had entered his house in Sheetal Khera area under PGI थाना limits and attempted to steal a black leather wallet containing cash and Aadhaar cards belonging to him and his family members.

Upon checking CCTV footage and conducting a search, the stolen items were recovered from the accused. Based on the complaint, a case was registered at the PGI Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and both individuals were taken into custody.

The arrested accused have been identified as Dev Singh (23) and Harsh Singh (22), residents of Ektanagar and Eldeco Udyan-II areas of Lucknow. During interrogation, the accused confessed that they committed thefts to fund their substance addiction. They also revealed that they work as drivers on hire.

Police recovered a black wallet, cash amounting to ₹1,030, and two Aadhaar cards from their possession.

The arrest was carried out by Constables Dharam Singh and Anil Kumar Yadav of PGI Police Station. Officials confirmed that further legal proceedings are underway.

The prompt action by the police, along with the vigilance of local residents, helped in foiling the theft attempt and ensuring quick arrest of the accused.
