Police on Hunt for Mastermind and Fake Landowner in Massive Property Scam
Lucknow : In a major breakthrough, Nigohan Police have arrested two members of a fraudulent gang involved in a fake land registry scam in Purahiya village, under the Nigohan police station limits. The accused duped a doctor by fraudulently selling 5.5 bighas of land originally owned by a retired ITI official.
The arrested fraudsters, identified as Mahendra Yadav, a resident of Tilsua, Malihabad, and Saurabh Patel of Khajanpur, Hardoi, were taken into custody and sent to jail after detailed interrogation. According to officials, the accused registered the land in the doctor’s name by posing as the rightful owners and extorted a hefty sum of ₹1.5 crore.
The land in question belonged to a retired ITI officer, who was unaware that his property was being misused by a fake seller with forged documents. Following the complaint and an initial probe, the police swiftly acted and arrested the two accused.
The investigation, led under the guidance of DCP South Nipun Agarwal and supervised by ACP Rajneesh Verma, was carried out efficiently by Nigohan SHO Anuj Kumar Tiwari and his team. Authorities have now launched a manhunt for the mastermind behind the scam and the fake farmer who posed as the property owner during the registry.
Police sources say that this gang may be linked to other land fraud cases in the region and that more arrests are expected soon.
This successful operation highlights the increasing efforts by Lucknow Police to crack down on property-related fraud and protect citizens from financial exploitation.
