Lucknow: The two-day literary and cultural festival Unmesh 2025 concluded on Wednesday with a vibrant award ceremony and captivating performances at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Government Girls Postgraduate College, Aliganj. The event celebrated creativity, intellect, and cultural diversity among students from across Lucknow.
Rajya Sabha MP and former Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Dinesh Sharma graced the occasion as the chief guest and felicitated the winners of various competitions. The ceremony was also attended by MLC Avneesh Singh, Principal Prof. Rashmi Bishnoi, and Ward Councillor Swadesh Singh, who collectively inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp before the idol of Goddess Saraswati.

The students began the proceedings with the college anthem and a melodious welcome song.
In his address, Dr. Sharma lauded the achievements of young women, saying, “For the daughters of India, the nation always comes first. When our girls excel in the Olympics, it feels as though India’s economy leaps forward with them.” He announced a grant of ₹10 lakh from his MP fund to support the development of a BBA classroom and further promised assistance for smart classrooms and modern teaching facilities.
He emphasized that “good teachers build strong students, regardless of the building they teach in,” urging educators to continue working with dedication and encouraging students — especially from minority communities — to pursue education and awareness.
Special guest Avneesh Singh remarked that the New Education Policy (NEP) will benefit students, particularly young women, by linking academics with practical skill development. He also noted the government’s commitment to promoting sports and extracurricular activities.
As part of the green initiative, the dignitaries planted Peepal, Banyan, Amla, and Bael saplings in the college’s Panchvati and Poshan Vatika, developed under the supervision of Prof. Shivani Srivastava and Arvind, with the support of NCC, NSS, and Rangers volunteers. The guests also inaugurated the college’s newly built cafeteria.
Principal Prof. Rashmi Bishnoi welcomed the guests and highlighted the college’s dedication to fostering holistic development through both academic and co-curricular opportunities.
The event was smoothly conducted by Dr. Shalini Srivastava, with a vote of thanks proposed by Prof. Shivani Srivastava. Several principals, teachers, and students from different institutions of the city attended the grand closing ceremony.
