Lucknow – The Department of Physics, Lucknow University, inaugurated a two-day conference today on “Multifunctional Materials for Sustainable Development”, jointly organized by Lucknow University, ISCAS, and SAAR Publications. The event received support and financial assistance from the Indian Bank Regional Office, Hazratganj, Lucknow, which also felicitated the distinguished guests.
The inauguration was graced by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Manuka Khanna as Chief Patron, who emphasized the importance of sustainable development in contemporary research. Patron Prof. Sheila Mishra, Dean of the Faculty of Science, also attended. Chief Guest Prof. A.K. Taneja, Vice-Chancellor, KMC Bhasha University, and Special Guest Prof. S.S. Das, D.D.U. Gorakhpur University, highlighted innovations in biodegradable polymers, honored with the ISCAS award. Keynote speaker Prof. S.K. Srivastava, Vice-Chancellor, BBD University, delivered a lecture on Materials for Sustainability.
The conference featured proceedings, the release of Prof. Das’s book on biodegradable polymers, and the announcement of ISCAS Gold and Bronze Medals by ISCAS President Prof. N.B. Singh. The program was chaired by Prof. Omkar Prasad, Head of the Department of Physics.

Today, 20 oral presentations and 15 poster presentations were delivered by invited speakers from Maharashtra, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and other states. Poster evaluation was conducted by Prof. A.K. Mishra, Shakuntala Devi University, and Prof. Gurunule, Nagpur. Invited speakers included Prof. A. Srivastava (BHU), Prof. Gurunule (Nagpur), Prof. Ratiram (Kanpatti), Prof. Seemant (Prayagraj), Prof. Gajanan (BBAU), Prof. Saroj Shukla (Delhi), among others.
The conference had approximately 150 participants. Conveners of the event were Prof. Anchal and Secretary R.K. Shukla. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Shashank Sharma, Sharda University, Greater Noida, and the event concluded with the National Anthem.
