Lucknow— The Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Akademi, under the Department of Culture, Government of Uttar Pradesh, organized a special tree plantation event titled “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0” on Wednesday morning as part of the state government’s environmental and cultural initiatives.
The plantation drive took place at 10:30 AM within the Akademi campus, with active participation from the officials and staff of the Sangeet Natak Akademi, Kathak Kendra, and Jaighosh. The initiative saw enthusiastic involvement from the entire department, who came together to plant a variety of saplings, including sheesham, jackfruit, mango, guava, and lemon trees.
Present on the occasion were Krishna Kumar Pandey, Financial Controller of the Department of Culture, U.P.; Amit Agnihotri, Treasurer of the Akademi; and Dr. Shobhit Kumar Nahar, Director of the Akademi, who joined the staff in the plantation efforts. As a gesture of respect and appreciation, the director honored both Krishna Kumar Pandey and Amit Agnihotri with a sapling and an angavastra (ceremonial stole).

Adding to the spirit of the occasion, the Akademi’s Chairman, Professor Jayant Khot, also joined the event virtually to mark his participation and show support for the green initiative.
The event emphasized not only environmental responsibility but also the deep emotional and cultural significance of dedicating a tree to one’s mother, reinforcing the importance of sustainability through symbolic and meaningful action.
