Lucknow– On the occasion of World Environment Day, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) organized a tree plantation drive on its campus to promote environmental awareness and green initiatives.
The event was led by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. J.P. Pandey, who planted a Red Sandalwood (Lal Chandan) sapling, emphasizing the importance of preserving and nurturing the environment. Speaking at the event, Prof. Pandey said, “On World Environment Day, we must commit ourselves to both protecting and improving the environment. Along with caring for the existing trees, we must utilize vacant spaces to plant more saplings to ensure a greener future. With rising temperatures, it is every citizen’s duty to act responsibly towards the environment.”
Registrar Reena Singh and Finance Officer Keshav Singh also participated by planting White Sandalwood saplings. Students from the Pharmacy and Management departments held placards with environmental slogans, spreading messages of sustainability and awareness.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from several university officials and faculty members, including Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajeev Kumar, Dean of Student Welfare Prof. O.P. Singh, Deputy Registrars Dr. R.K. Singh and Dr. D.P. Singh, along with other staff members and students. Their collective effort underlined the university’s commitment to ecological well-being and community-driven environmental initiatives.
