Lucknow : Under the leadership and guidance of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, a comprehensive training and field exposure program is being conducted at the Deen Dayal Upadhyay State Rural Development Institute (DDU-GSY), Bakshi Ka Talab, Lucknow. This initiative aims to enhance the capabilities and effectiveness of officers from various government and semi-government departments and institutions involved in developmental and public welfare work.
The three-day training-cum-exposure program, titled “Study Tour Training Programme”, is being held from April 30 to May 2, 2025. The program is being organized under the aegis of the Institute’s Director General, Mr. L. Venkateshwarlu, and under the supervision of Additional Director Mr. B.D. Chaudhary. A total of 45 probationary officers are participating in the program, which includes 5 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers and 40 Provincial Civil Service (PCS) officers of Uttar Pradesh.
As part of the curriculum, the probationary officers are being exposed to functioning at the Gram Panchayat, Block, and District levels through field visits in Barabanki and Lucknow districts. These visits are being coordinated under the leadership of Dr. S.K. Singh, Assistant Director at the institute. Concurrently, capacity-building sessions are being conducted at the institute’s headquarters, with senior officials delivering lectures on relevant governance topics.

The inaugural session on Wednesday was marked by the presence of senior officials including Mr. Subodh Dixit (Deputy Director), Dr. Neerja Gupta (Deputy Director), Dr. S.K. Singh (Assistant Director), Sanjay Kumar (Assistant Director), and Kumar Deepak, Disaster Management Advisor.
Guest speakers included Parth Achyut, Joint Commissioner, Department of Food and Civil Supplies, Government of Uttar Pradesh, who addressed the Public Distribution System (PDS), and Inspector Arvind’s SDRF team, who conducted a detailed session on search and rescue operations, CPR, and fire safety measures.


Dr. Neerja Gupta delivered a special lecture on key rural development schemes such as MNREGA and the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), emphasizing their impact and execution strategies. Advisor Kumar Deepak provided insights into various types of disasters and Uttar Pradesh’s vulnerability to them, highlighting preventive and responsive strategies.
Significant contributions to the organization and management of the training program were made by Dr. S.K. Singh, Sanjay Kumar, and Kumar Deepak, while support staff including Mohammad Shahrukh, Sudesh Kumar, and Mohammad Kaleem also played commendable roles in ensuring the smooth conduct of the training.
This program is part of the state government’s continued commitment to preparing a more skilled, knowledgeable, and responsive administrative workforce that is well-equipped to meet the challenges of rural development and disaster management across Uttar Pradesh.
