Traditional Songs and Flower Showers Mark Third Day of Phagotsav in Lucknow

Lucknow: The festive spirit of Holi continued to flourish on Thursday as the third day of the Phagotsav celebrations was marked with traditional music and cultural performances at the premises of Little Champs School in Viram Khand.

The Holi Sangeet Baithaki was organised under the aegis of the Lok Sanskriti Shodh Sansthan as part of its ongoing Phagotsav series. The programme reflected the rich traditions of Fag singing, a folk form closely associated with Holi festivities in North India. Participants exchanged greetings by applying gulal and celebrating the festival in a vibrant cultural atmosphere.

The event began with a Ganesh Hori presented by Kanak Verma, setting the devotional tone for the evening. Renowned folk singer Aparna Singh performed the song “Mrignayani Ko Yaar Naval Rasiya”, while senior folk singer Indu Saraswat enthralled the audience with “Girdhari Lal Hori Khelain Kunjan Ki Gali.”

Other notable performances included Sheela Gupta presenting “Meri Paanchon Anguriya Bade Kaam Ki,” Shakti Srivastava singing “Ye Dou Rajdulare Hori Khelat Saryu Ke Teer,” and Dr. Abha Dixit performing “Sir Bandhe Mukut Khele Holi.” Performances by Asha Srivastava, Aruna Upadhyay, and Sharda Pandey further filled the venue with the colourful spirit of the Phagun season.

Students from Sangeet Bhavan, under the direction of Nivedita Bhattacharya, also delivered lively singing and dance performances. Participants including Soumya Goyal, Aadrika Mishra, Avyukta Srivastava, Aastha Pandey, Bhumi Pandey, Praveen Gaur, Neelima Gaur, and Deepika Marison presented the popular Holi song “Rang Rangeelo Phagun Aayo,” among others.

Several other artists and guests, including Dr. Padmini Natu, Seema Agarwal, Kumkum Mishra, Satyaprakash Sahu, Vidyabhushan Soni, Bhushan Agarwal, Prof. Seema Sarkar, Manorama Mishra, and Jyoti Kiran Ratan, also gave appreciable performances.

The guests and participants were welcomed with gulal by Jitesh Srivastava, President of the Lok Sanskriti Shodh Sansthan, and Dr. Sudha Dwivedi, the organisation’s Secretary.

Among those present on the occasion were Ajay Kumar, Rajnarayan Verma, Aarti Srivastava, Richa Mathur, Neelam Verma, and Dr. S.K. Gopal, along with several other distinguished guests.

The programme beautifully showcased the rich folk traditions associated with Holi, filling the atmosphere with music, colours, and the joyful essence of the festival.
