Lucknow | Amid rising incidents of theft in the Utrethia Market under the PGI police station limits, local traders have joined hands with the police to formulate a robust security strategy. The move comes after growing frustration among shopkeepers, who decided to take proactive steps to ensure the safety of their establishments.
On Thursday, office-bearers of the Utrethia Udyog Vyapar Mandal held a joint meeting with police officials, during which several concrete decisions were made to enhance security in the bustling market area.
According to the resolutions passed, a dedicated security guard will be deployed in the market to maintain vigil during peak and off-peak hours. Traders also agreed that all shop owners will conduct mandatory police verification of their staff to prevent the involvement of unidentified or suspicious individuals.
Additionally, every shop will install outward-facing CCTV cameras to improve surveillance and assist police in identifying suspects should any incident occur. The installation is expected to create a deterrent effect and strengthen evidence-gathering during investigations.

Present at the meeting were Trade Association President Lalit, Women’s Wing President Binu Mishra, Senior General Secretary Shyam Sahu, General Secretary Chandan Gupta, Secretary Mahtab Khan, Senior Vice President Brijpal Singh, Patrons Satyendra Singh and Ganesh Gupta, and Media Incharge Vijay Srivastava, along with a large number of traders.
The association expressed confidence that the collaborative approach with police will help curb thefts and restore a sense of safety in the marketplace.
