Varanasi: Devotees started queuing up 24 hours in advance to take a bath in Lolark Kund. Devotees started taking their place in the barricades from the Kund to the road. The area around the Kund was completely filled with devotees. Shops have been decorated in the fair area. On Saturday, Additional Police Commissioner S Chanappa, Kashi Zone DCP Gaurav Banshwal reached Lolark Kund. The police team inspected the security points regarding the crowd coming to the fair.
The bath of Lolark Kund will be on Lolark Shashthi on September 9. Devotees started queuing up in the barricades of the Kund from late Saturday evening for the bath to be held after midnight on Sunday. Additional Police Commissioner S Chanappa said during the inspection that there will be separate gates for entry and exit in the Kund fair.
Apart from this, 5 additional SPs, 8 area officers, 14 inspectors, 200 policemen including 40 sub-inspectors, 100 women policemen, one company PAC and one company paramilitary force will also be deployed for security arrangements.
Along with deploying women and policemen at security points, he also instructed to make one-way traffic on the incoming and outgoing roads. There will be no congestion on the alternative route. Inspector-in-charge Bhelupur said that paramilitary force has been demanded. NDRF and water police personnel will be deployed inside the pond. Volunteers will also be present there for help.
The crowd will be monitored with CCTV footage and drones. Bathing will start after midnight on Sunday. People started reaching the pond for bathing from Saturday afternoon itself. The Municipal Corporation has installed a curtain above the barricading to avoid sunlight.
