Tom Holland Calls Working on Nolan’s The Odyssey “The Job of a Lifetime”

The Odyssey

Washington: Actor Tom Holland has described his collaboration with legendary filmmaker Christopher Nolan on the upcoming epic The Odyssey as “the job of a lifetime.” In an exclusive with Variety, Holland reflected on the once-in-a-career experience of working with Nolan and a star-studded cast, saying, “It was the best experience I’ve ever had on a film set.”

The film, based on Homer’s legendary Greek epic, sees Holland in the role of Telemachus, son of Odysseus, played by Matt Damon. The movie follows Nolan’s critically acclaimed Oppenheimer, and expectations are high.

“It was thrilling. It was unlike anything I’ve ever done,” Holland said. “To work with Chris and Emma Thomas was extraordinary. Their working style is something I’ve never seen before. There’s a reason they’re at the top of the industry.”

An Epic Collaboration

The Odyssey boasts an ensemble cast featuring Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, and Jon Bernthal—adding to the film’s monumental buzz.

“I’ve looked up to people like Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway for years. Getting to share the screen with them, learning from them, and becoming friends with them has been an incredible privilege,” Holland shared.

Holland added that receiving the call from Nolan inviting him to be a part of the film felt similar to when he was cast as Spider-Man a decade ago.

“That call was unforgettable,” he said. “It gave me purpose and pushed me to prove myself every day on set. I’m truly grateful to Chris for that chance.”

A Date With Destiny

Directed, written, and co-produced by Christopher Nolan, The Odyssey promises to be a genre-defining cinematic spectacle, blending action, mythology, and emotional storytelling on an epic scale.

Universal Pictures is set to release The Odyssey worldwide on July 17, 2026.
