Lucknow: In preparation for the upcoming Durga Puja, Mahanavami, and Dussehra festivities, the Police Headquarters has issued a series of directives aimed at maintaining public safety and ensuring smooth celebrations. The orders emphasize heightened security during idol immersion, temple gatherings, and public events like Ravana Dahan.
Key directives include:
- Planned Police Arrangements: Special security measures are to be implemented for Durga idol immersion, with police forces deployed in a box formation during processions to ensure order.
- Crowd Management at Temples: With a significant influx of women and girls expected at temples during Mahanavami, additional police personnel, including the Anti Romeo Squad, will be deployed around religious sites to prevent harassment.
- Safety at Immersion Sites: Magistrates or police officers will be stationed at immersion sites, with local divers, water police, and flood relief PAC on standby. Barricading and proper lighting arrangements at ghats have also been ordered.
- Fire Safety for Ravana Dahan: Special instructions have been issued to ensure fire-fighting arrangements at all Ravana Dahan sites.
- Engagement with Committees: Police will coordinate with Ramleela committees and religious leaders to implement safety suggestions and prevent disputes at sensitive venues.
- Security at Key Locations: Enhanced security will be maintained at railway stations, bus terminals, shopping malls, and crowded markets. A poster-checking campaign near religious sites has also been mandated.
- Social Media Monitoring: Round-the-clock surveillance of social media platforms has been ordered to prevent the spread of misleading or objectionable content, with strict action against offenders on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and WhatsApp.
The Police Headquarters has also emphasized keeping the local intelligence unit on high alert and ensuring that no processions deviate from pre-approved routes. These measures are aimed at ensuring a peaceful and secure environment for all during the festive season.
