Three Kidnappers Arrested in Lucknow for Demanding ₹2 Lakh Ransom; Victim Rescued Safely

Lucknow: In a major breakthrough, the Uttar Pradesh Police Commissionerate, Lucknow (Northern Zone) has successfully solved a kidnapping case in the Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT) area. Police arrested three accused kidnappers and safely rescued the abducted victim.

The Incident

On May 12, 2025, around 6 PM, Irfan (35) was forcibly abducted by two unknown men who assaulted him and pushed him into a vehicle. Later, the kidnappers contacted Irfan’s brother, Imran, demanding ₹2 lakh as ransom for his safe release.

Imran lodged a formal complaint at BKT Police Station on May 15, following which a case (FIR No. 188/2025) was registered under Section 140(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Ransom Demand and Police Response

According to police officials, the kidnappers contacted Imran via WhatsApp and phone calls, demanding the ransom be delivered near the Achraamau underpass. Taking the matter seriously, the police formed a special team that traced the accused. In a well-coordinated overnight operation between May 14 and 15, the police apprehended all three accused at around 3 AM from Achraamau Tiraha, Kisan Path service lane.

    • Profession: Lab Technician

  2. Mohd. Mufid (26)

    • Son of Mohd. Mujib

    • Resident of Razauli, Police Station Gudamba, Lucknow

    • Profession: AC Mechanic

  3. Ramchandra alias Abdullah (27)

    • Son of Shivnath

    • Resident of Basantnagar, Police Station Safdarganj, Barabanki

    • Profession: Labourer

Items Recovered

  • ₹2 lakh in cash (four bundles of ₹500 notes)

  • 1 mobile phone used for ransom communication

  • The abducted victim, Irfan, found safe and unharmed

Police Statement

Police officials confirmed that the trio had meticulously planned the abduction with the sole intention of extorting money. Thanks to the swift and strategic response by law enforcement, a potentially tragic crime was averted, and the victim’s life was saved.

Legal proceedings are currently underway, and all three accused are being processed under Sections 140(2), 308(5), and 317(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
