Three-Day Tabla Workshop Concludes Successfully at Bhatkhande Sanskriti University, Lucknow

Lucknow: The three-day tabla workshop organised by the Department of Percussion at Bhatkhande Sanskriti University concluded successfully late last evening at the Sujaan Auditorium. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from renowned artists and students from across India and abroad.

Insightful Sessions Mark the Final Day

The concluding day began with an enriching first session led by eminent percussionist Sheikh Ibrahim, who delivered an in-depth lecture on traditional folk percussion instruments. He discussed the playing techniques of the Hudka, Ram Kundli, and Dukkad, demonstrating their stylistic nuances through live examples. Students were introduced to essential aspects of technical precision and aesthetic expression in percussion art.

Captivating Solo Presentation

In the second session, Sheikh Ibrahim presented an impressive solo recital, showcasing compositions from the Punjab Gharana, including Deskar, Kayda, and intricate Farmayishi Chakradhar patterns.
He was accompanied on the harmonium by Dinkar Dwivedi, who provided seamless melodic support. Students engaged actively, asking questions and seeking clarity on techniques, to which Ustad Ibrahim responded with simplicity, insight, and encouragement.

Acknowledgments and Presence of Eminent Artists

At the successful completion of the workshop, Dr. Manoj Kumar Mishra, Head of the Department of Percussion, extended gratitude to all participating artists, students, and contributors.

The event was graced by distinguished personalities including Prof. Praveen Uddhav, Ustad Ilmas Hussain, Sarang Pandey, Dr. Gyan Singh Patel, Rais Khan, and Abdul Wahid Khan.
