Focus on industry-oriented training, quality enhancement, strategic planning, and tech integration for economic growth: Dr. Hariom
Lucknow: The three-day “Capacity Building Workshop” organized by the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission (UPSDM) concluded today at Hotel Centrum, Lucknow. Addressing the closing session, Dr. Hariom, Principal Secretary of the Department of Vocational Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, emphasized that the mission is being driven with a production-oriented vision. The goal, he said, is to equip the youth with industry-relevant, high-quality, and practical training to make them active contributors to the state’s economic development.
Dr. Hariom highlighted that continuous quality improvement, strategic planning, innovation, technological inclusion, and accountability would be prioritized going forward. He appreciated the role played by district coordinators, divisional joint directors, and departmental officers in the successful execution of the workshop.
In the opening session, Mayank Gangwar, Joint Director of the Mission, elaborated on the integration of vocational education and skill development with formal education under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He mentioned the policy’s aim to connect 50% of students with vocational training by 2025 to ensure market-aligned curricula and quality employment opportunities. He also discussed the National Credit Framework (NCrF), a unified system that merges the National School Education Qualification Framework (NSEQF), National Higher Education Qualification Framework (NHEQF), and National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) to create a seamless education structure across all levels. Gangwar further announced that UPSDM and the State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT) have now been recognized as ‘Awarding Bodies,’ enabling them to design new courses tailored to the state’s needs.
In a subsequent session, Vijay Namdev shed light on the technical management of the UPSDM portal. Experts Ram Sahare, Mohit Srivastava, and Nitin Verma discussed the intricate aspects of the training lifecycle. Sushil Kumar from Tata Technologies spoke about industry practices and emphasized aligning training with industrial expectations.
A special cultural segment during the workshop featured renowned poet Faiz Khumar Barabankvi and satirical poet Vikas Baukhal, who entertained the audience with their performances. The session also saw a soul-stirring song performance by Mrs. Malvika Hariom, co-organizer of the event and wife of Dr. Hariom.
Concluding the workshop, Additional Director M.K. Singh expressed gratitude to all participants, speakers, and contributors, calling the workshop meaningful and inspiring.
