GORAKHPUR – Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Gorakshpeethadhishwar Yogi Adityanath stated that humanity is God’s greatest creation, and no person is truly incompetent. He emphasized that if an individual is seen as unskilled, it is only because they have not yet found a capable guide or mentor. The Chief Minister paid tribute to the late Mahants Digvijaynath and Avedyanath, hailing them as perfect examples of such “connectors” or “yojak” who dedicated their lives to guiding society and the nation.
Speaking at the weekly tribute ceremony for the 56th death anniversary of Mahant Digvijaynath and the 11th death anniversary of Mahant Avedyanath, CM Yogi quoted a Sanskrit shloka: ‘Amantramaksharam nasti, nasti mulamanoushadham, ayogyah purushah nasti yojakastatra durlabhah.’ He explained that this means no letter is without the potential for a mantra, no plant is without medicinal properties, and no person is without skill—what is rare is a mentor who can recognize and guide that potential. He said the lives of both late heads of the Gorakshpeeth were dedicated to this purpose, serving the country and their faith.
Mahants Honored for Spiritual & National Legacy
CM Yogi described a saint’s life as one lived for a higher purpose: “A sadhu is alone, society is his family, the nation is his household, and his only caste is Sanatan.” He credited the resolve and struggle of both Mahants for the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, noting that their dream of removing the symbol of slavery has been fulfilled for the world to see. He added that any Indian who doesn’t feel pride seeing the magnificent temple’s completion would have their Indian identity called into question.

Paying tribute to Mahant Digvijaynath, the Chief Minister said he hailed from the brave lineage of Maharana Pratap and brought that same valor to Gorakhpur. He described Mahant Digvijaynath as the architect of the modern Gorakhnath temple and a pioneer of the educational revolution in eastern Uttar Pradesh. The Mahant established the Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad in 1932 and later donated two of his degree colleges to ensure the establishment of a university in Gorakhpur.
Other prominent speakers also lauded the Mahants’ contributions. Former MP Dr. Ramvilas Vedanti stated that the Ram Temple would not exist today without them, while Jagadguru Ramanujacharya Swami Vasudevacharya praised Mahant Digvijaynath’s courage. Jagadguru Ramanandacharya Dr. Ramkamalacharya honored them as pioneers of social harmony, a sentiment echoed by Mahant Balaknath of Rohtak. The event concluded with the release of two books by CM Yogi: ‘Bharatiya Sanskriti Ki Aatmsati Prakriti’ and the annual journal ‘Vimarsh’.
