Lucknow – The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shikshak Sangh (UPMSS) has raised serious concerns over the directive issued by the Director General of School Education, mandating the organization of summer camps from May 21 to June 10, 2025, in all government, government-aided, and self-financed secondary schools across the state.
In a formal letter addressed to the Director General of School Education, UPMSS President Suresh Kumar Tripathi and General Secretary Narendra Kumar Verma have demanded the immediate suspension of this order, citing extreme heat conditions and inadequate infrastructure in schools.
According to Dr. R.P. Mishra (State Vice-President/Spokesperson), Narendra Kumar Verma (General Secretary), and Dr. R.K. Trivedi (State Minister), the letter outlines that temperatures in many parts of the state have crossed 40°C, with ongoing heatwave warnings. Meteorological reports indicate yellow alerts for extreme heat toward the end of May and the beginning of June.
The union stated that most schools lack basic cooling facilities like fans and coolers. Many rural schools also face irregular electricity supply, further worsening the situation. “Conducting summer camps under these conditions would be nothing short of endangering the lives of children,” the letter emphasized.

The union also highlighted logistical concerns. During the summer vacation, a majority of teachers and principals travel to their hometowns in other districts, while students are often engaged in other activities or out of station. In such a context, the feasibility and effectiveness of summer camps become highly questionable.
Calling the directive “impractical and potentially hazardous,” the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shikshak Sangh urged the Director General to immediately revoke or defer the summer camp order in the interest of student safety and the well-being of teaching staff.
The teachers’ body awaits a prompt and favorable response from the education department.
