Tata Motors Launches Vehicle Scrapping Facility in Guwahati

Guwahati: Tata Motors has inaugurated its latest Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) in Guwahati, marking a significant step toward sustainable automotive disposal. The facility, operated in collaboration with Axom Platinum Scrappers, has the capacity to dismantle up to 15,000 end-of-life vehicles annually using environmentally responsible methods.

This facility accepts all brands of both passenger and commercial vehicles for scrapping. It becomes the sixth such center in India, joining those in Pune, Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Surat, Chandigarh, and the Delhi-NCR region.

Government and Industry Response

State Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Jogen Mohan emphasized the economic benefits of the new RVSF. “The opening of this cutting-edge vehicle recycling facility will support the economic growth of our state and create valuable employment opportunities,” he stated.

Highlighting its environmental impact, he added that the facility would contribute to lowering carbon emissions, ensuring safe disposal of old vehicles, and fostering a cleaner ecosystem. “I express my gratitude to Tata Motors for being the first to introduce smart facilities in Assam,” Mohan said.

Tata Motors’ Commitment to Sustainability

Girish Wagh, Executive Director of Tata Motors, underlined the company’s dedication to responsible vehicle disposal. “We are promoting sustainable practices because we are committed to the principles of a circular economy. With our network of RVSFs across seven states, we now have the capability to dismantle over 100,000 end-of-life vehicles annually,” he said.

Every facility in Tata Motors’ scrapping network is fully digitalized, with streamlined, paperless processes ensuring efficiency and compliance. The new facility features specialized stations for dismantling various vehicle components, including tires, batteries, fuel, lubricants, and gases. Both passenger and commercial vehicles undergo structured disassembly in accordance with the country’s vehicle scrappage regulations.

Ensuring Safe and Efficient Recycling

Tata Motors has designed the facility to comply with responsible scrapping standards, ensuring that every vehicle goes through a rigorous documentation and disassembly process. The goal is to promote environmentally friendly vehicle disposal while adhering to regulatory guidelines.

A subsidiary of the $165 billion Tata Group, Tata Motors is a global leader in automobile manufacturing with a portfolio that includes automobiles, trucks, buses, and electric mobility solutions. This latest development further strengthens the company’s position in India’s sustainable automotive industry.
