‘Talaffuz Aur Hum’: A Shared Commitment to Urdu’s Linguistic Legacy

Lucknow | In a significant step toward preserving and promoting Urdu’s linguistic heritage, Bazm-e-Urdu—an organization with a rich legacy spanning over five decades—brought together several like-minded institutions at the Uttar Pradesh Press Club. The event marked a joint presentation of organizations working for the cause of Urdu, aiming to foster a collective voice and coordinated effort in its revival and promotion.

Under the soulful theme of spreading the soul of Urdu senior journalist Kulksum Talha known for her initiative“Talaffuz Aur Hum,” along with other stakeholders echoed a unified commitment to nurturing proper pronunciation, diction, and usage of spoken Urdu. The event turned into more than just a formal presentation—it became a confluence of passion, purpose, and shared responsibility.

Dr. Tabassum Kidwai and her team were thanked for their heartfelt initiative and thoughtful invitation, which helped convene diverse stakeholders under one roof. The session saw active participation from representatives who spoke of the work their respective organizations had undertaken in promoting the language.

Among the key voices was that of the Founder Secretary General of Osama Talha Society, Kishwari Konnect, and Talaffuz Aur Hum, who shared an insightful narrative of the journey dedicated to spoken Urdu. Notably, they highlighted the specialized workshops conducted for media professionals under the title “Talaffuz Aur Media”—an effort to instill clarity, precision, and correctness in Urdu diction and terminology among journalists.

Acknowledgments were made to stalwarts who played crucial roles in this linguistic journey, including Mohtarma Ayesha Siddiqui, Prof. Sabra Habib, Qamar Khan, Prof. Anis Ashfaq, and many others whose contributions have enriched the cause.

The overarching theme of the event focused on collaboration, mutual respect, and a shared roadmap to ensure Urdu continues to thrive as both a literary and spoken language. Representatives shared their achievements, voiced common challenges, and deliberated on future goals—ranging from educational outreach to digitized content and media integration.

The day ended with a renewed sense of purpose, where participants agreed that only through unity and consistent dialogue can the heritage of Urdu be safeguarded and passed on meaningfully to the next generation.
