T20 Mumbai League 2025 Roars Back to Life: Suryakumar, Shivam Dube, and Shaw in Action as Season 3 Begins with a Bang

Mumbai : Cricket fever has gripped Mumbai as the T20 Mumbai League 2025 kicked off this week after a six-year hiatus, returning with its third and most awaited edition yet. With 23 matches lined up across Wankhede Stadium and DY Patil Stadium between June 4 and June 12, the tournament promises thrilling encounters, rising stars, and familiar faces back in their home turf colours.

✦ The Revival of Mumbai’s Cricket Festival

Launched in 2018 by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to spotlight local talent, the T20 Mumbai League has grown into a vital breeding ground for domestic and international prospects. The return of the league in 2025 sees renewed energy and backing, and this time it’s bigger than ever — featuring eight franchise teams, 144 players, and ₹7.79 crore spent during auctions.

✦ Star Power in Abundance

The opening day saw Shivam Dube (ARCS Andheri), Suryakumar Yadav (Triumph Knights Mumbai North East), Shreyas Iyer (SoBo Mumbai Falcons), and Prithvi Shaw (North Mumbai Panthers) in action — all of whom trace their roots to Mumbai’s local cricketing circuits.

Mumbai Cricket Association President Ajinkya Naik stated,

“The league is a launchpad. We are proud that names like Dube, Deshpande, and Mulani began their journeys here. Season 3 is a celebration of the future of Indian cricket.”

✦ Format & Fixtures

Each team will play five matches in the league stage. The top four teams will qualify for the semi-finals on June 10, and the final will be played on June 12 at Wankhede Stadium.
