London: Suryakumar Yadav’s Wimbledon Debut: Wimbledon 2025 saw an unexpected but welcome visitor from the world of cricket – India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav. Speaking to Star Sports and JioCinema, the explosive batter shared his excitement about being at the prestigious tennis event for the very first time, drawing parallels between cricket and tennis and even revealing his dream doubles partner.
On his debut visit to Wimbledon, Suryakumar said, “I’ve watched a lot of tennis on television, but nothing beats the experience of Centre Court in person. The energy, the history—it’s surreal.” Looking sharp in a stylish suit curated with the help of his wife, SKY credited her for perfecting his Wimbledon look: “She’s been behind me for days, helping me get this right!”
He also shared his admiration for tennis legend Novak Djokovic: “I’ve read his book ‘Serve to Win.’ His journey and mental toughness inspire me. As someone who debuted internationally a little later, I connect with that perseverance.” He added that among modern players, Carlos Alcaraz had caught his eye with his fearless gameplay.

Suryakumar highlighted the mental and physical challenges common to both cricket and tennis: “Endurance and focus matter so much in both. It’s about how long you can stay mentally switched on.”

And when asked which cricketer he’d pick for a doubles match, the answer was immediate: “MS Dhoni—speed, endurance, mental strength—and I’ve seen him play tennis whenever he isn’t playing cricket!”

Suryakumar Yadav’s charming presence and thoughtful insights at Wimbledon added a delightful sporting crossover moment, showcasing the growing bond between India’s cricket stars and global sporting stages.
