Lucknow: Sur Sandhya Music Club, founded in 2015 by Sanjay V. Deshmankar in memory of his parents, has emerged as one of Lucknow’s most cherished cultural platforms, dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich musical heritage of the Maharashtrian community. Established under the 104-year-old Maharashtra Samaj, Lucknow, the Club was envisioned as a space where Marathi songs, soulful bhakti geet, and evergreen Hindi melodies could flourish through passionate performances.
Deshmankar’s vision was rooted in personal passion and the disciplined musical upbringing gifted by his parents. His efforts were strengthened by fellow founding member Ravindra L. Joshi, who stressed the need to keep younger generations connected to traditional music to ensure cultural continuity and deeper community bonding.
The Club witnessed a remarkable transformation with the entry of Mr. Prajyot Dewaskar three years ago. A trained classical musician and graded All India Radio, Mumbai artist, Dewaskar introduced professional rigour, structure, and musical refinement. His mentorship elevated the Club’s standards and expanded its reach far beyond the Maharashtrian community, embodying the inclusive cultural fabric of Lucknow.
Equally significant has been the contribution of Mrs. Mohita Dewaskar, whose poised and engaging compering has given each musical evening a warm, cohesive flow. Her presence on stage has not only connected performers and audiences but also enriched the emotional atmosphere of each event.
Over the years, Sur Sandhya Music Club has grown into a vibrant platform where music lovers showcase their talent, celebrate tradition, and nurture a deeper appreciation for India’s diverse musical heritage.
