Sunita Williams faces trouble in her eyes

Sunita Williams

Washington: NASA’s Indian-origin astronauts Sunita Williams and Barry Butch Wilmore went to the International Space Station (ISS) for just eight days. But, their return has not been possible yet due to a malfunction in the Boeing Starliner capsule carrying them. The US space agency NASA is saying that efforts will be made to bring them to Earth in September. However, their eight-day journey may turn into 8 months. Both astronauts may return next year i.e. in February 2025.

No return date yet

Sunita Williams’ return has been delayed due to helium leakage and malfunction in thrusters in Boeing Starliner. It is being said that if everything goes well, Sunita Williams and Barry Butch Wilmore can be brought back to Earth in September, but NASA has not yet given any date for their return. A NASA official had recently said that both astronauts could return to Earth by the year 2025.

Sunita is having problems in her eyes

Meanwhile, news has come that Sunita Williams is having problems in her eyes and she is having trouble seeing. Although Boeing is considering options like SpaceX’s Crew Dragon to bring back astronauts, the latest update shows that 58-year-old Sunita Williams is facing problems related to her eyes.

What is the danger in space?

The environment in space is different from Earth. There microgravity, the risk of radiation, the limited quarters of space stations are a challenge to human health. Staying on the space station for a long time is risky for them. One of the immediate changes in space for astronauts is fluid redistribution. Due to the absence of gravity, bodily fluids start reaching the upper part of the body. This causes swelling on the face, nasal congestion and lack of fluid in the legs. This poses a risk of reduced blood volume and can cause blood pressure disturbances.
