Lucknow: A three-day training programme on cryptography, titled “Cryptography Bootcamp: Cryptography Unlocked”, was inaugurated on Tuesday at Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), under the aegis of its Innovation Hub. The programme aims to provide students with in-depth knowledge of encryption technologies and their real-world applications.
Inaugurating the event, AKTU Vice-Chancellor Prof. JP Pandey highlighted the various dimensions of cryptography and emphasized the need for students to stay abreast of technological advancements. He noted that the university has been using encrypted technology for exam question papers since 2016, which has significantly reduced costs while enhancing security and integrity.
“Technology is evolving rapidly, and students must keep pace. The future belongs to innovations like Artificial Intelligence, especially Agentic AI, which will have far-reaching implications across sectors. With new challenges come new opportunities, and it is the responsibility of technical students to stay updated and contribute to society,” said Prof. Pandey. He also mentioned that AKTU is adopting new technologies, and from the next academic session, all student degrees will be stored on the blockchain for enhanced security and accessibility.
Dean of Innovation Prof. BN Mishra remarked that the three-day training would provide students with valuable learning experiences, including hands-on sessions. “This is a golden opportunity for students to gain practical exposure and shape their futures in the right direction,” he added.
What is Cryptography?
Most people use cryptography in their daily lives without realizing it. It is a technique that protects data from being hacked or intercepted. For example, messages sent via WhatsApp are encrypted to prevent unauthorized access. The bootcamp will introduce students to the basics of encrypted technology, blockchain, and cyber security. Practical sessions will demonstrate cyber-attacks, defense mechanisms, and Wi-Fi-based vulnerabilities.
Trainers Devansh Vikram and Ayush Mohan Sah conducted the sessions, with Vandana Sharma moderating the event. Mahip Singh, Head of Innovation, delivered the vote of thanks. The event was attended by B.Tech and M.Tech students along with faculty members.
