Bahraich : Inspector General of Police (IG) for the Devipatan Range, Amit Pathak, asserted on Tuesday that stringent action will be taken against individuals involved in forced or illegal religious conversions. He stated that law enforcement agencies across the region are actively cracking down on conversion rackets and that the police are committed to dealing firmly with such offenders.
During his visit to Bahraich, IG Pathak inspected the historic Siddhnath Temple and issued necessary instructions regarding crowd management and safety protocols, especially in view of the ongoing Sawan month, which witnesses a surge in devotees. He emphasized the need for heightened vigilance and crowd control during the third Monday of Sawan, which is expected to draw particularly large gatherings.
Accompanied by Superintendent of Police Ram Nayan Singh, IG Pathak also reviewed security arrangements at other prominent temples in the city, including the renowned Shiv Mandir. He expressed satisfaction over the preparedness of the police and temple authorities and encouraged further streamlining of logistics to ensure smooth conduct of religious activities.
In addition to religious site inspections, IG Pathak visited the Police Lines, where he evaluated the ongoing training of new recruits. He closely monitored the drill sessions, interacted with trainers, and instructed that the training process must be rigorous and comprehensive, ensuring that the recruits are well-equipped to handle complex field situations.

Highlighting the region’s ongoing efforts against anti-social elements, IG Pathak reiterated the commitment of the Uttar Pradesh Police to uphold law and order. He stated, “We are taking consistent action against illegal conversion gangs. No one involved in such activities will be spared, and the law will take its strictest course.”
His visit served both administrative and morale-boosting purposes as the region gears up for a busy religious season, requiring increased coordination and vigilance from the police force.
