Kanpur: The Special Task Force of the Uttar Pradesh Police has arrested a wanted gangster carrying a ₹50,000 reward in connection with a criminal case registered in Chandauli.
According to an official press note issued from STF headquarters in Lucknow on March 15, the accused was apprehended on March 14 during an operation in Kanpur Dehat.
Accused Identified
The arrested accused has been identified as Kausar Ali alias Pappu, son of Abdul Rashid, a resident of Ward No. 8, Purani Bazar Bharwari under Kokhraj police station in Kaushambi.
He had been declared a wanted criminal under the Gangster Act, with a reward of ₹50,000 announced for information leading to his arrest.
Arrest Operation
The STF team arrested the accused near Adville Private Limited Mayur Vanaspati Mill along the Kanpur–Etawah NH2 highway in the Rania police station area of Kanpur Dehat at around 3:40 PM on March 14, 2026.
The operation was carried out by a team led by Inspector Aditya Kumar Singh, along with Head Constables Sunil Kumar Singh, Prabhakar Pandey, and Gaurav Singh, after receiving specific intelligence about the accused’s presence in the area.
Part of Inter-State Cattle Smuggling Network
During interrogation, Kausar Ali reportedly admitted that he was part of a criminal gang involved in the illegal smuggling of cattle across several states including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Bihar, with animals allegedly transported to other states such as Assam and West Bengal.
Police said the accused had been absconding since November 2023, when a case related to cattle smuggling and animal cruelty was registered against him at Saiyadraja police station in Chandauli district. To evade arrest, he had been hiding in several cities including Bihar, Haryana, Mumbai, Delhi, and Ahmedabad.

Legal Action and Charges
The accused was wanted in Case No. 225/2023 registered under provisions of the Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
Courts had also initiated proceedings against him under Sections 82 and 83 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) after he failed to appear during the investigation.
Following his arrest, the accused has been handed over to Saiyadraja police station in Chandauli for further legal action.
Criminal History
Police records reveal that Kausar Ali has been involved in multiple criminal cases in the past, including:
- Gambling-related offences (2016) in Kokhraj police station, Kaushambi
- Rash driving and causing death by negligence (2019) in Kokhraj, Kaushambi
- Cow slaughter and animal cruelty charges (2021) in Derapur, Kanpur Nagar
- Cow slaughter case (2023) in Saiyadraja, Chandauli
- Several cases under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 registered in 2025 in Kaushambi district
Investigation Continues
Authorities said further investigation is underway to trace other members of the gang and uncover the full extent of the interstate smuggling network.
The STF reiterated its commitment to tracking down absconding criminals and dismantling organized crime networks operating across state borders.
