Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force has arrested a wanted criminal carrying a reward of ₹50,000 in connection with a violent crime case registered in Aligarh.
According to officials, the accused, Amit Sharma, was arrested on March 10, 2026, at around 4:00 pm from near an under-construction school building close to the NTPC Khurja and THDC project area in Bulandshahr district.
Amit Sharma alias Goldy, son of late Raghuveer Prasad Sharma and a resident of Pathwari Mandir Gali near GT Road bridge in Naurangabad under Gandhi Park Police Station, had been absconding in connection with Case No. 312/2019 registered under Sections 147, 148, 149 and 307 of the Indian Penal Code at Sasni Gate Police Station.
The STF had been receiving intelligence inputs about absconding and reward-carrying criminals operating in various districts of Uttar Pradesh. Acting on these inputs, STF units were directed to intensify intelligence gathering and launch operations against such offenders. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Raj Kumar Mishra and led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Navendu Kumar. An STF team comprising Inspector Sachin Kumar and Sub-Inspector Sanat Kumar from the STF field unit in Noida carried out the arrest.
During interrogation, the accused revealed his involvement in multiple criminal activities. In 2003, he and an associate named Sunil allegedly robbed a railway official in the Delhi Gate area of Aligarh. A case under Sections 394 and 411 IPC was registered at Delhi Gate Police Station, and both accused were later arrested and jailed.

After being released from prison, Amit Sharma reportedly moved to Delhi for work but later returned to Aligarh due to family issues. In 2012, he was again arrested by police from Quarsi Police Station in connection with circulating counterfeit currency.
In 2019, police from Sasni Gate police station arrested five associates of Sharma with stolen property in a robbery-related case, but Sharma managed to escape and remained absconding since then. A reward of ₹50,000 had been announced for information leading to his arrest. He was also wanted in another case registered in 2022 under Section 174A IPC at Sasni Gate police station.
Police records show that multiple criminal cases have been registered against him in Aligarh over the years. Following his arrest, Amit Sharma alias Goldy has been handed over to Sasni Gate police station for further legal proceedings. Authorities said further investigation is underway to gather more details about his criminal network and activities.
