Hardoi: The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force has arrested a wanted criminal carrying a reward of ₹50,000 in connection with a murder case in Hardoi district, officials said on March 10.
According to a press note issued by the STF unit in Lucknow, the accused, Vipin Kumar Singh, had been absconding for nearly three years. He was wanted in connection with Case No. 444/2013 registered under Sections 302 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code at Shahabad Police Station.
The accused, son of late Vinod Kumar and a resident of Kheda Azmat Khan village under Shahabad police station, was arrested near Aujhi Railway Station in the Shahabad area of Hardoi at around 3:50 pm.
The STF had received inputs that several wanted criminals with reward announcements were active in different districts of Uttar Pradesh. Acting on these inputs, teams were directed to intensify intelligence gathering and conduct operations. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Dinesh Kumar Singh and led by Inspector Shailendra Kumar Singh.
An STF team including Sub-Inspector Rahul Parmar and personnel Pushpendra Solanki, Arvind Singh, Devesh Dwivedi, Ashok Rajput, driver Shiv Kumar and Commando Sarvesh Bhadauria was conducting surveillance in Hardoi when they received information that Vipin would visit the area to meet relatives and friends. Acting swiftly, the team arrested him near the railway station.
During interrogation, Vipin Kumar Singh revealed that in 2008 he had a family dispute with a villager named Munna Singh, which led to Munna’s murder. Vipin, along with his brother Atul Singh and another associate, was jailed and later released on bail after about eight months during the appeal process.
In 2013, Munna Singh’s brother Guddu Singh was also murdered, in which Vipin, his brother Vikas, and an associate named Bhura Bhangi were accused. Since then, Vipin had been absconding and hiding in different states. He had returned to Hardoi recently to meet relatives when he was caught by the STF.
The accused has been handed over to Shahabad police station in Hardoi for further legal proceedings.
