Lucknow: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh’s startup ecosystem is witnessing sustained expansion and renewed confidence. Supported by a conducive policy framework and an encouraging business environment, the state has recorded significant progress in promoting entrepreneurship. Under the ‘Start in UP’ initiative, the number of recognised startups in the state has now crossed the 3,000 mark, reflecting the government’s commitment to transforming youth from job seekers into job creators.
According to the latest figures, the number of ‘Start in UP’ recognised startups in Uttar Pradesh has increased to 3,011, up from 2,905 in December 2025. Within a short span after December, as many as 106 new startups received recognition, highlighting growing entrepreneurial trust and enthusiasm across the state.

At the national level as well, Uttar Pradesh continues to strengthen its presence under the central government’s Startup India programme. In December 2025, the state had 18,568 startups recognised under Startup India, a figure that has now risen to 19,042. During this period, 474 new startups from Uttar Pradesh received recognition under the national initiative, underscoring the state’s emergence as a major hub of startup activity in India.
Clear Policy Vision Driving Growth
The Yogi government has adopted a clear and forward-looking policy approach to promote startups. Through the ‘Start in UP’ policy, the state government is providing support in the form of funding, mentorship, incubation facilities and technical assistance. The process of application and recognition has also been made simpler and more transparent, enabling a larger number of young entrepreneurs to enter the startup ecosystem with ease.

The government’s objective is to promote self-employment among the youth and create an environment where innovative ideas can be converted into viable business ventures. This focus on entrepreneurship is increasingly translating into real opportunities on the ground.
Startups Expanding Beyond Major Cities
IT expert Pradeep Yadav noted that improvements in law and order, emphasis on ease of doing business and the expansion of digital governance have had a visible impact on the startup sector. Startups are no longer confined to major urban centres; new ventures are now emerging from smaller cities and districts as well. This shift is contributing to local employment generation and strengthening regional economies, further positioning Uttar Pradesh as a fast-growing startup hub in the country.
