Mumbai | Sony SAB is set to expand its programming slate with the upcoming medical drama Hui Gumm Yaadein – Ek Doctor, Do Zindagiyaan, an Indian adaptation of the globally acclaimed Italian series DOC, which has been successfully remade in several countries. Centered on the theme of second chances, the show explores life, love, and identity through the extraordinary journey of a gifted doctor who is forced to rediscover himself after a life-altering incident.
The series follows Dr. Dev, played by Iqbal Khan, a brilliant physician who loses eight years of his memory in an accident. As he attempts to rebuild both his personal and professional life, the narrative delves into emotional complexities, unresolved relationships, and the possibility of new beginnings.
Adding depth to the storyline is actor Ekta Kaul, who essays the pivotal role of Srishti, Dr. Dev’s ex-wife. A strong and intelligent woman, Srishti was once a practicing doctor who stepped away from her medical career to raise their children. She later assumed administrative responsibilities at the hospital where Dev worked. For years, she believed the collapse of their marriage stemmed from Dev’s transformation following the tragic loss of their six-year-old son, Dhruv—marked by emotional distance, arrogance, and a loss of empathy.
However, Dev’s memory loss introduces Srishti to a very different version of the man she once loved—gentle, caring, and deeply devoted to her. This unexpected change compels her to confront lingering pain, unresolved grief, and the possibility of giving love a second chance.
Sharing her thoughts on the show and her character, Ekta Kaul said that what drew her to Yaadein was its emotional depth beyond the medical backdrop. She described the series as a story about rediscovering oneself when life suddenly changes course. According to her, the theme of second chances—at life, relationships, and purpose—resonated strongly, making Srishti an ideal character for her return to television.
She added that Srishti’s strength, intelligence, and emotional complexity made the role deeply fulfilling and creatively challenging.
Hui Gumm Yaadein – Ek Doctor, Do Zindagiyaan promises a moving portrayal of love, loss, and resilience, highlighting the enduring strength of the human spirit.
